The video project "I'm sorry you had a bad experience" plays on the contradiction between the desire for adventure and the urge to prepare our trip as well as possible.

On Google Maps, you can rate almost any place in the world. As a result, other people's opinions increasingly determine our travel behaviour. Are we still able to improvise and let nature surprise us, or have we become too dependent on online reviews?

Would our travel behaviour change if we encountered the opinions of other species alongside those of humans? How would the mountain react to our comments?

A series of semi-fictional reviews acts as a conversation starter.

The (4K) video collage is made of photos and videos Florian shot during a bivouac hike in the Pyrenees. The project was part of the joint project "Hiking Happiness":

Hiking Happiness

Florian de Visser, Mies Loogman and Manon Vosters took a six-day hike through the French and Spanish Pyrenees in the summer of 2022. With backpacks filled with food, drinks and tents, they walked a section of the GR11, a well-known hiking trail through the Pyrenees. Each of them recorded the experience of the trip in their own way, and the work came together in the exhibition Hiking Happiness at VDMA / Around Coffee Eindhoven. An exhibition about escapism, pushing boundaries and mass tourism.

This project was made possible by Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven.
